Dr Anne Lee is an accomplished glaucoma specialist with a strong background in clinical care, research and medical education. She has devoted her career to advancing glaucoma management and supporting the next generation of ophthalmologists.

Dr Lee completed both a Bachelor of Medical Science and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Sydney in 1996. She began her medical career at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, where she progressed to Senior Emergency Resident between 2000 and 2001, gaining extensive experience in acute care before commencing ophthalmology training.

Accepted into the RANZCO training programme, Dr Lee completed her specialist ophthalmology training in 2006 while simultaneously completing a PhD at the University of Sydney. Her doctoral research explored ocular determinants of prevalent and incident open-angle glaucoma, forming part of the landmark Blue Mountains Eye Study—one of the largest population-based eye studies in the world. She has since authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and has been awarded several postgraduate grants and research honours. She has also presented widely at national and international scientific meetings.

Dr Lee undertook subspecialty glaucoma training in the United Kingdom, completing a fellowship at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in 2008–2009, followed by an appointment as Honorary Glaucoma Fellow at Huddersfield and Calderdale Hospitals. During this time, she developed advanced surgical expertise, including trabeculectomy, complex trabeculectomies, glaucoma drainage tube surgery and non-penetrating glaucoma procedures.

Since returning to Sydney in 2010, Dr Lee has focused her practice exclusively on glaucoma. She holds public hospital consultant appointments at both Sydney Eye Hospital and Liverpool Hospital, where she is deeply involved in registrar training and supervision. She contributes to the profession through multiple leadership and educational roles, including serving as a RANZCO examiner, participating in scientific committees and coordinating mentorship programmes for junior trainees.

Dr Lee is widely regarded for her thoughtful clinical approach, her dedication to education and her commitment to improving outcomes for patients living with glaucoma.
