At Eye Associates, we use a combination of medical and laser therapies to treat a range of retinal diseases—such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusion. Acting early can help stop or slow damage and protect your eyesight.
Treatment options
Medical Retina
- Intravitreal Injections: Deliver medication directly into the eye to treat retinal conditions safely.
- Focal Laser Photocoagulation: Targets and seals specific areas of retinal swelling or tears.
- Scatter Laser Photocoagulation: Shrinks abnormal blood vessels to prevent bleeding into the retina.
Surgical Retina (for reference, not currently offered)
- Vitrectomy: Removes the gel-like vitreous from the eye, often to address bleeding or retinal detachment.
- Cryopexy: Freezing treatment to repair retinal tears.
- Pneumatic Retinopexy: A gas bubble is used to position the retina correctly.
- Scleral Buckling: A supportive band is placed externally to relieve pressure and reattach the retina.
Prognosis
If treated early, many retinal disorders can be stabilised or improved—protecting your vision and reducing the risk of long-term damage.
